A friend of mine wrote a song with her husband called "Shine" (click on songs page at the top of the home page of http://neighbors4eternity.com to hear). There is a lyric in the song that refers to "the kiss of glory on my face."

Do you remember the feeling, when you were a child, of a parent or grandparent cupping your face in her hands and kissing you with a radiant look of joy or pride? That moment when you felt shared joy and a deep sense of well-being? An experience of feeling completely loved and secure and had pleased someone who you loved completely?

The difference between people who just attend church and those who have a genuine relationship with God is the existence of those moments in their lives. Hundreds of adults could have cupped your face and kissed you as a child, but there would not have been that same sense of joy. You needed to know and love the person who knew and loved you for that experience.

Do you regularly have joy? Do you feel God's kiss of glory on your face? 

I came to know God personally by reading the Bible in anger, to prove how foolish it was. But the Bible is His love letter to us, and the beauty of it caused me to seek forgiveness of my sins so that I could be in His presence. Since that time, I daily seek His presence, and He often rewards me with "kiss of glory" moments.

So how do I daily seek His presence? Through quality, quiet time, with my focus on Him; through talking with Him in prayer; through asking for him to direct my footsteps to someone who is feeling lost, alone or discouraged. When His love shines through me to someone who is lost, alone, discouraged or hurting, I feel His kiss of glory on my face.

This can be a reality in your life as well. Get quiet, and sincerely ask for God to shine His love through you to others. Commit your life to being used by Him as a beacon of His love to others.

God will know you as His child when you sincerely pray something like this: "Father I long to know Your kiss upon my face. I am a sinner and I know I need Jesus as my Savior. Please save me and use me to shine Your love to others. Amen."
