Is Gramma Good Enough?

I recently had lunch with my grandmother who is in her 90's.  She is  still active with a very sharp mind but with  lots of  prescription-caused health issues.  Family is the hardest group to talk  about Jesus and salvation to.

The conversation moved to a dying person and how it will be better when they die because they were suffering in pain now.  "Gramma that is only true if they are saved - born again.  If they don't have that right they will be infinitely worse off when they die.  Are you going to Heaven when you die Gramma?"  "I think so," she said, "I tried to live a good life."  My own grandmother gave voice to the BIG LIE of Satan that leads millions to Hell every year.

IF YOU COULD LIVE A LIFE GOOD ENOUGH TO GO TO BE IN THE PRESENCE OF A PERFECTLY HOLY GOD FOR ETERNITY, WHY WOULD JESUS HAVE BEEN TORTURED AND CRUCIFIED?

God said in the Bible that our righteousness (our best behavior ever in our

life) is as filthy (menstrual) rags.  Compared to the standards of God, needed to be in His presence, the best you ever did is as the most disgusting, dirty rags that you can think of.

You have never been good enough and never will be good enough for Heaven.  What was the only substance in existence strong enough to clean your sin to present you blameless to your Heavenly Father?  The blood spilled by Jesus, His death-conquering resurrection and your faith in it.  Your obedience to do what He said was needed to be eternally saved - to say a simple, sincere, short prayer:

"Father I know that I am a sinner and that I need Jesus as my Savior. There is nothing I can do to save myself, and it is only my faith in Jesus' death on the cross and His triumph over death that saves.  Please save me. Amen."  You just did what was needed - invite your loved ones to join you.
